“For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death.” II Corinthians 7:10
For [godly] sorrow that is in accord with the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation; but worldly sorrow [the hopeless sorrow of those who do not believe] produces death. (Amplified)
Godly sorrow leads to Christ, worldly sorrow leads to Satan, the deceiver and liar himself. Peter had godly sorrow, Judas had worldly sorrow.
